Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer found in women (most common being breast cancer). Worldwide, nearly 470,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer annually, about 10,000 being in the United States. Out of this 10,000, around 4,000 will die from this disease. The controversy of how to treat this disease has been going on for years now, seeing as many people disagree with the treatments that are being suggested.
The most popular suggested way to cure this disease is the HPV vaccine. This vaccine has been tested and proven to be the most effective in curing cervical cancer. Some people believe that in order to get rid of this disease, everyone should be obligated to get this vaccine so that it does not continue to spread. Others believe that Pap tests, which are tests that show early signs of HPV before the cells turn to cancer, is good enough and affordable for those who do not have $360 to pay for the HPV vaccine.
